Delos, Island of Light is a novel with a mystical slant. Smithsonian archeologist, Leslie Appolonedes, is give an assignment to evaluate a secret discovery on the Greek island of Delos. The discovery appears to be linked to an ancient legend concerning a statue of Artemis sculpted under covert circumstances in the 5th century B.C.
Beginning with the appearance of an apparition of Pericles, a series of mysterious events occur that introduce Leslie to the world of spirit and mysticism, far different from the scientific world she has known. Altair, a wise prophet whose appearance and demeanor resemble a cross between Merlin and Socrates, becomes Leslie's teacher and guide into this enigmatic world. Through Altair she learns why she was chosen to be a part of the search for the Artemis statue.
When more
of the statue is suspected to be in the Aegean, an underwater archeologist
comes into Leslie's life, Jason Solomas. Jason, resembling a Greek Adonis,
is immediately smitten by the beautiful Leslie but she is so afraid of
involvement that she continually rejects him.
A dolphin
enters the story when the search begins for more of the statue in the sea.
Acting as a tracker, Delphi leads Leslie and Jason to more fragments of
the statue.
Events become more perplexing all the time as Leslie's life is threatened and the twenty-three-year-old mystery surrounding the disappearance of her father is revealed.
