Sorry for not returning to your very interesting site, but I have been so wrapped up in finishing up the final location of the Lost Mines of Tayopa, that I almost forgot that this beautiful site existed, however I'm back with a vengence for an hour or so.

Have you, or has anyone out there, ever run across any data on piracy on the west coast of Mexico??? There has been very little publicity on this, yet the major part of the production of the mines of Mexico actually passed down the west coast to Acapulco due to the extremely large bands of thieves that operated inland. It was relatively safer by sea, this the pirates knew and as a result the west coast was infested with them. Every major port or city still has the remnants of the forts that were necessary to protect themselves.  Among them was a pirate named Cromwell who took La Paz,
BC and sacked it and the cathedral. I am looking for any information about him, I believe that I have located the remains of his ship, but before I get too involved I would like to know if it is worth the trouble. Incidentally, more gold and silver was moved down the west coast than ever went to Spain, plus the boats were far smaller and less protected -- an earlier prey for the pirates.

Yoos da man. Da bes' site 'round!!! Ok, OK, I don't really talk like that. Anyways, so I'm searching for any and all info on "Jose Gaspar - aka Gasparilla" (a fictional or factual pirate no one has been able to prove either way). All I have is an acount from some old guy named John Gomez who was born in 1778 and died at 122 years old in 1900, who claimed he once sailed with Gasparilla. That's all I have. I would really appreciate it if I could stumble upon any and all info on Gasparilla. Any help would do, but if you say he was fictional...then prove it. If he was factual and real...then prove it. Come on mateys, help me out. Thanx. By the way, luv these graphics. Would you mind if I borrowed some of em?

I started a search for sunken ships in hopes of locating a ship that sank about two years ago carrying top-grade wine from France. That search was happily interrupted by finding your site. Love it!
